The Angel’s Share
The Angel’s Share* 2017, Painting, Glass, Watercolors, Water and sea water, Dust and Table, 299,5 x 89,8 x 0,8 cm.
The Angel’s Share arises from Letter 1: To the lighthouse, a site specific project at Bureau des Réalités, 2017.
The Angel’s Share is part of the Impression Project, a series of glass plates painted with a blend of water, sea water and watercolors. The table in the space was covered with a large made-to-measure glass plate.
The impressions are singular attempts to depict an image form in a liquid mass. The image is formed and informed by the evaporating process of the painting: surface level, temperature variations, hygrometry and natural deposits become pictorial elements to reveal the motion of liquids and of time.
* The Angel’s Share is a term for the portion of a whisky’s volume that is lost to evaporation during aging in oak barrels.
